About me
I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist with an Advanced Certificate in Relational Supervision. I am also a creative, a mother, a jewellery maker, and a singer with a love for natural vocal expression.
What I offer
I am trained to work short-term which would be focussing on a particular problem, or long-term, exploring unconscious problematic patterns of thought and responses which may be linked to childhood experiences. As an Integrative psychotherapist I will draw on various approaches to therapy. However, I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a safe, non judgmental, containing space for clients to explore what is happening in the here and now.
Supervision
I am a qualified relational supervisor. I offer one to one sessions or I can facilitate group supervision sessions. Decent relational supervision is not just important, but essential within the helping professions. That is a non hierarchical, non judgemental space for people to feel safe enough to reflect on their work with clients, especially the uncomfortable areas of the work that raises shame and guilt within us. Without this space these issues remain hidden, even from ourselves, and will impact how we respond to our clients. I offer both individual and group supervision sessions.
Vocal therapy
As an Integrative therapist, I also include the use of vocal sounds. Making vocal sounds can release the blocks in our bodies and lead us into connection with the emotion. This can lead the body into more ‘flow’ and a feeling of aliveness. Finding our own authentic voice requires a sense of curiousness, not judging what you hear, all part of the work. If you feel like your voice is suppressed or not heard, feel free to contact me.
Vocal group workshops
Vocal sounds literally vibrate our cells, bones, and fluids in the body and can transform and renew them. As a result, sounds can have a healing effect on physical, emotional and mental states. Imagine how much more impacting it is when we make vocal sounds together. What a joy!
I offer a two hour workshop which includes:
Breathing exercises to relax the body (nervous system). Various natural vocal group exercises like: using different vowel sounds to experience where they resonate in the body and what that feels like, or humming sounds for soothing, or chanting together for connection and confidence. Exploring our stories where our natural voices may have been blocked and validating what emerges. Most importantly we have fun and use singing as a way to connect to ourselves and each other.
Further training
IFS (Internal Family Systems).
DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)
