Gaynor Wilson
About me
I am a qualified Integrative counsellor/psychotherapist with a degree in integrative counselling. Being an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist means I use different approaches to suit individual needs. I specialise in the psychodynamic and person-centred model.
We all need help from time to time as the pressures of life sometimes overwhelm us. Whether you have a specific issue, or are feeling disconnected from life and experiencing disharmony with your identity, the inner conflict you are experiencing can manifest itself in ill mental and physical health, working with the connection between both mental and physical health is my passion, as this leads to enhanced self-awareness of how we can nurture and heal ourselves. Discovering or reconnecting with your authentic self and embracing your uniqueness, brings the enlightenment that can lead to a healthier, more autonomous and fulfilled life, to the life you want to be living!
Exploring and working with how the past influences the present and challenging deeply entrenched beliefs we hold about ourselves, can help with unhealthy patterns of thinking and behaviour, that might be causing low self-esteem, anxiety, stress and impacting on all aspects of life, including relationships. Through our therapeutic relationship, I can offer the empathy and safety you need to explore your feelings, I can accompany you on your journey to find the answers you do have within you!
I have experience of working with a range of client issues and a wealth of life experience, I see adults 1-1 or as couples. I believe the therapeutic relationship is fundamental to enable insight and growth, so if you would like to see if I am the therapist for you, I would love to hear from you.
Couples counselling
As an experienced couples counsellor, I work with couples to look at why the relationship is no longer working, to deepen your understanding of yourself and each other and to bring you to a more charitable, curious place, where you can once again feel safe with each other, to explore the kind of relationship you both want going forward.
Testimonial
"We started our couples therapy after having our little boy. We have been together for more than 10 years and married for 3 but we felt we had difficulty to communicate and connect in our new role as parents."
"Gaynor made us comfortable and taught us how to connect through our unmet needs. Our sessions were a safe place to explore our emotions and remember how much we actually love each other. It was a great opportunity for us to reconnect and remember we are not at war with each other and our roles in life might have changed but we still love each other and want to be in this together. L&A August 2024."
“Just like the butterfly we all can be transformed, just by going within!”
